The rise of new and exciting platforms has allowed the definition of 'TV and Radio' to broadened from not just listening to FM waves or watching Freeview channels. The purpose of wanting to branch out onto these fast paced mediums is so I can demonstrate a variety of skills, not just when it comes to presenting and mainting the quality of coming up with a show, but also to showcase my ability to film, edit and capture great footage.
Politicocks TV - On the back of the podcast, I decided that the best way to make sure our content was reaching out to new audiences and connecting with listeners was to produce visual content that people would want to watch. The idea behind 'Politicos TV' is not for it to be like the conventional 'Peston On Sunday' or 'Daily Politics'. But instead, make 5 - 10-minute pieces in which we cover a current topic or political event and make it jovial or groundbreaking in some manner which surprises our audience and makes them want to question those in power. In order to connect with wide audience I have decided to form a partnership with the political site 'The Backbencher'. The agreement is that I create videos for 'Politicocks TV' and then we publish them on the website. This provides their blog with a nice variety of content as well as providing myself with increased viewership.
When Politicocks Met... - I felt as though the key for making not just a successfull YouTube channel but a successful political YouTube channel was to look at producing material that was different to what you would normally see when looking at political interviews. When it comes to competition you are up against the likes of 'Politics UK' and 'Owen Jones' so the aim is to look at what they arent doing and then home in on that. My idea was to create a sub 10 minute interview segment where I would interview politicians asking them a range of serious qnd jovial questions. It make for short and snappy viewing which not only can become quite amusing but it also means people have the tolerance to watch it for a short period of time, even if they aren't massive political obssesives.
