Journalist
I'm currently working as a political blogger, freelance journalist and Campaigns Director whilst studying for a BA Hons degree in Journalism at City, University of London.
When it comes to working within the media, I tend to specialise in political reporting, filming, editing, blogging and producing. Over the past year, I've indulged myself in multiple projects, all of which involve me using, but most importantly refining those skills.
Furthermore, as I have a vested interest in politics and the media, I have also taken up the opportunity to Head up a Homeless campaign that is looking to pressure government policy. All of which relates nicely into the world of journalism as what we are seeing now in the current political climate is a great deal of hybridisation in both politics and mass media.
Overall, I believe in being an all-rounder when it comes to the media, and I understand that the world of journalism is just like any other high-end profession. "One day you’re cock of the walk, the next you’re a feather duster."
Reviews from past work colleagues:
Amadeus Redha (Tremr): "Despite being the youngest person in the history of our programme, Ted excelled in his role. He was a joy to have on board, and his willingness to learn knew no bounds. Not only did he create compelling content, but his writing ability easily competed with some of our more seasoned writers."
David Andrews (PR and Journalist): "Ted is a very capable young man, highly intelligent and with a good feel for media-related issues. In his time with me, he demonstrated an aptitude for quickly getting to grips with technology and its applications. He is easy going, and a pleasure to have around and I would have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending him."
Kristy Adams (Former Conservative Parliamentary candidate): "Ted Jeffery was a member of a Question Time panel I was chairing at an ‘Equalitea event’ to celebrate 90 years since men and women over 21 years were able to vote. The rest of the panel were all female students under 18 who were debating for the first time, Ted was thoughtful, inclusive and insightful in his answers and helpful in giving the girls a successful first experience of public speaking. His input was invaluable and I look forward to working with him again."
In Britain we have a free press. It's not a pretty press, but it's free. The people who can't bear the Daily Mail, they say: 'you should ban it'. No no, no no, you don't ban it... you don't buy it." - Ian Hislop ”
